Exactly 16 days ago, we started our grand experiment to not only find the King of the Monsterpocalypse but to immortalize the top contenders by adding them to the upcoming Megaton Mashup 2: King of the Monsterpocalypse box. Your votes decided that Cyber Khan and Terra Khan will be included in the box, but they won’t be your regular Khans—instead, they will have changed, reforged (in one case, literally) by the crucible of combat, into new, even more exciting versions of these two beloved kaiju.
While that is an incredibly exciting part of the last few rounds of votes, in the immortal words of Christopher Lambert, “there can only be one.” In a battle that I’m assuming would rival Destroy All Monsters levels of broken and defeated kaiju, Cyber Khan was victorious and claimed the title of the King of the Monsterpocalypse. But how long Cyber Khan can hold on to that title will now be determined by you on the tabletop. We ask that you just give everyone else a bit of time to recover.
Thanks to our intrepid Convention OP Organizer/Super Fan/Honorary Kaiju Travis Marg, we were able to allow everyone to create prediction brackets—and the person with the closest bracket would win a brand-new copy of the box set upon its release! After 10,399 votes, the aptly named “Khans before Kings” bracket was the winner! Here’s the link so you may all bask in its glory: https://challonge.com/tournaments/9499373/predictions/581330
While the rest of the world was competing for the new box, here at PPHQ we’ve been competing for something even more important: a six-pack of the fanciest sodas I can find and the right to call yourself the Employee of the Monsterpocalypse. Our amazing art director, Mike Vaillancourt, not only was the top-ranked staff member, he also came in 2nd place overall. Who’d have thought that the guy in charge of what the monsters look like would be able to figure out everyone’s favorites?
And finally, before I leave you, let’s hear from our regularly contributing staffers to see how they’ve ended up…
Well, there we have it! Cyber Khan took down last year’s winner, Terra Khan. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending of this. Thank you everyone for the 116 submitted brackets and all the voting. It was a great time and I look forward to seeing the new models.

I almost can’t believe Cyber Khan won; I had zero confidence in it making it all the way. My bracket in general is terrible, but hey, I guessed Cyber Khan to go pretty far, so at least there’s that. I hope everyone is looking forward to a Khan Megaton Mashup—I’m already hard at work making something cool for everyone!

What an epic battle, folks. Tooth and Claw was no match for the might of humanity’s malefic machine Cyber Khan! I am shocked but equally excited. I was rooting for Terra Khan to the bitter end, and he did great. Second place solidified his title as king of the Protectors. Cyber Kahn was the underdog I started cheering for, even though he was not in my bracket. The anticipation for what comes next has me electrified. KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN! It’s not what I would have chosen, but I can’t deny the appeal of a Khan vs Khan match up. What sort of kaiju game doesn’t play to the classics? I’m looking forward to seeing the new Khans facing off in their upcoming box.

As for my bracket, I just wanted the King to take his rightful place, and for that, I got 69th place.
