Hello, fellow monster heads! We are freshly back from the Las Vegas Open, and it was a BLAST! This year we had a lot going on—we set up demos for all of the Privateer Press games and let me tell you the Monsterpocalypse table was so hot, it was on fire!

We had some amazing people stop by and play: fathers and sons, friends, and colleagues.

Of note is Chris (pictured in the middle), who has lived in Japan for the last 20 years as a U.S. Navy sailor. He was very excited to see our kaiju game in all its glory.

In-person demo games were not all we had going on this weekend: online players were able to participate in the weekend’s festivities as well when we kicked off the first online Kaiju Classic, and over this entire weekend, players in all forums battled to be the champion. Hosted by our friends Ayumi and Nick at Power Gorged TV and streamed live on their twitch channel https://www.twitch.tv/powergorged, the Kaiju Classic played out over three days of city-smashing, monster-mashing battles.

On Friday, players wrestled for points in the monster arena. Since the event was hosted online, we had players still battling when the midnight hour rolled over into a new day. On Saturday, we kicked off our online Crush Hour tournament in which players brought their best to bear battling to add their name to the Kaiju Classic trophies.

And then on Sunday, our Who’s The Boss event kicked off, allowing players to play any monster in their list, regardless of its agenda. The only catch was that the monster is chosen randomly by spinning our Monster Wheel!

To be eligible for our Champion trophy for best overall points and our “Clawed Your Way Up” award for new players, contestants would need to participate in every event across the course of the weekend.

And finally, players had one last challenge to overcome: the painting competition. Nathan Howard took home the Best Painter prize for his monster Cassander, a stunningly beautiful piece of work.

Here, then, are the final standings for the Kaiju Classic!

Once more, congratulations to all of our players, and thanks for participating in Kaiju Classic 2!

To wrap it all up, we held social challenges issued on Twitter and Facebook to ramp up the hype. Players were challenged to break through barriers for Retweet, Share, Comment, and Like, and we shared a number of concept art pieces. As players unlocked their prizes, we broadcast out the cards for those models ahead of schedule to let players get their first looks at the February and March releases.

Over the course of the entire weekend, players got their first look at buildings, units, monsters, and more. We brought rapid prototypes of the March releases to LVO to let players see them up close and personal for the first time…

But we’ll save all that for the next Insider, coming soon!
