In this Concept to Crate I’ll be talking about the latest MiniCrate release: Admiral Carver! The basic description of the model was simple: it’s Lord Carver, BMMD, Esq. III dressed in a Napoleonic-era French Navy Admiral’s uniform with an Iron Kingdoms twist. My suggestion was to make changes to costume elements—like the shoulder boards—and turn them into metal sheets with dangling leather strips on the ends instead of tassels. I thought he should definitely have the French Admiral hat as well. So, I passed this note off to Andrea Uderzo, and he got to work!

I liked version three the most out of the proposed designs. For the pose, we decided to go with D, as it had a nice brooding quality to it. The one addition we were after was to add something nautical under his foot—I suggested a Buccaneer or Freebooter head, and we were ready to proceed to a final.

I love it when a design comes together so quickly! The only downside of speed, efficiency, and accuracy is that there’s isn’t much to write about! Just the same, you get to see the behind-the-scenes sketches that went into the design and know a bit more about the model before you add it to your collection!
