Out of the Void Gate: The Marcher Worlds

Hi, I’m Tanner Thomas. You may know me from such livestreams as Get Your Paint On! and Staff Showdown, and I’m here to talk to you about injustice. Injustice in space.

Earlier this week my coworker Jeff wrote an Insider about why he would be playing Iron Star Alliance in Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika. I cannot let this injustice go unchallenged. Sure, if you read that article you’ll see he goes on and on about the so-called right the Iron Star Alliance has to claim whatever they want.

That, my friends, is called oppression, and in the Marcher Worlds we will not stand for it.

The Marcher Worlds is the Coalition of Free States that have chosen not to live under the yoke of tyranny so many other nations and planets have meekly accepted under the guise of safety and protection. In making this choice, they’re forced to live on the fringes of the galaxy, relying on their resourcefulness and survivability to make their way in life instead of paying for a comfortable living by giving up their freedom.

As a result, the Marcher World military forces are more like militias made up primarily of volunteers who fight as if their freedom depends on it. Because it does. The Dusk Wolf warjack is a mainstay of Marcher World forces, and while less common than its Iron Star Alliance counterpart the Firebrand, it makes up for it with the durability necessary for everyday use in the more hostile environments of the Marcher Worlds.

Warcasters of the Marcher Worlds vary in their background and upbringing, from patriots and freedom fighters leading their people in the war for their freedom to mercenaries who care more for coin than ideology.

Regardless of why you fight for the Marcher Worlds, the important message here should be plain: Don’t fight for the side of the oppressors.

Don’t be like Jeff.

I’ll have my Marcher Worlds force with me at Lock & Load GameFest this June, ready to accept all challenges, be they from Iron Star Alliance or Marcher Worlds players!
