Well, ladies and gentlemen, Machinations has finally come to a close.

Equilibrium ended this week, and worldwide the battles were both fierce and fantastic. The final results are in, and though it was incredibly close our league winner for this final season is the Retribution of Scyrah! Congratulations to the homicidal elves of Ios! As a reward, check out the new art print now available on the Privateer Press Store online.

This season’s Vault also cracked open in the third week to reveal the true threat behind Machinations. Who, or what, is it? You’ll find out in time.

With the completion of Equilibrium also came the fiction finale. If you haven’t had a chance to read the Machinations storyline yet, there’s still time to check it out. Written by our own Aeryn Rudel and William Shick, this saga is more than just a few blurbs about the adventures of Rutger and Taryn—it’s an entire novel!

In fact, for those of you who wish to enjoy the full story as a complete experience without the need to visit the various league pages, don’t worry: we’re compiling all of the Machinations fiction, under the title Through the Darkness: The Story of Machinations, as a full-length novel from Skull Island eXpeditions…for free! You heard me right—this massive tale will be available to everyone as a free download in the very near future.

Whether you were reading the fiction, giving the league models a spin, going full-out each season to win prizes, or even participating in our forum “story,” we hope you had as much fun participating in Machinations as we had developing it.

Now that Machinations is over, I’m already looking forward to the organized play opportunities that will be available in 2014. A new version of Steamroller is right around the corner, we have book release events in the works, there’s all manner of good times to be had with High Command—and of course, the next league battles beginning in the spring of 2014…Scars of Caen.
