When Lyle asked if I wanted to participate in this blog series, I agreed without even blinking. Like I’ve said before, deadlines help me get stuff painted. The only difficult decision was which holiday bundle to pick.

I thought about going with Skorne since that has always been my main HORDES faction, and it would motivate me to paint more stuff for my army. I also thought about Circle Orboros since I’ve always liked wolds, and the Circle bundle looked like fun to paint. My third option was Thornfall Alliance, and I finally decided to go with the Farrow for a couple reasons. First off, I really like the look of the Farrow. Then there are the Razor Boars. I really like these models, and I can’t wait to add a bunch of them to my army later on.

Choosing what colors to use was really easy. I decided everything was going to be a shade of brown or one of two metals. As I started painting, I made one exception and put a bit of red here and there to add variety.

After work each night, I did the easy brown painting, knowing I didn’t have any plans for the weekend. I spent almost all of Saturday and Sunday painting. Things went really well, and by Sunday night all I needed to do was decide how to finish up the two non-Farrow figures, then base everything.

Now they’re done, and overall I’m happy with how things turned out. I’ll be picking up a Road Hog and a few other Thornfall Alliance models soon to expand my army, and I eagerly await the chance to get some Razor Boars.
