I love new games, but I dread reading game manuals to learn the rules.

For me, playing demos and experiencing firsthand how the game plays in real time has always helped create a deeper connection and understanding of the game, which, in turn, intensifies my enthusiasm for playing it.

I’m always looking to try out new games with experienced players at conventions, at home, or at my local game store. However, it’s challenging to get a live demo of every game I want to learn, and as the owner of a new game, the burden usually falls on me to learn the rules and teach others how to play.

To that end, I think it would be very beneficial if Privateer Press bundled a miniaturized Privateer staffer or Press Ganger into each of our products to give you a personal demo of the game the first time you open it up. But until both the scientific community and the rest of the company stop giggling and start taking my suggestions a little more seriously, making videos of our games in action is the next best thing.

Recently, we created video tutorials for our new Bodgers card game Heap and our new survival horror board game LEVEL 7 [ESCAPE]. You can find these videos and more on our Privateer Press Prime Video Channel. The videos show you everything from how to set up the play area to the fundamental mechanics of the game, complete with loads of examples. Everything you need to know to sit down and start playing.

Oh, and did I mention that you will be able to watch the videos through links in the Heap digital rulebook and LEVEL 7[ESCAPE] digital rulebook available as free downloads from our website? Yeah, I thought that was cool, too.

These videos are a great companion to the printed rules and a fun introduction to our games that you can get anytime, anywhere, without the necessity of a live demo.

And seriously, what gamer wouldn’t want a Privateer staffer for their very own? We’re adorable!

Happy gaming!
