We moved into our current location in Woodinville, Washington, in the fall of 2019. It’s a nice location, a building all our own with ample warehouse room, just enough office space, and located across the street from a local favorite cafe that makes some of the biggest sandwich stacks you’ve ever seen. Sadly, only a few months after getting moved in, everything got locked down by the pandemic, and our offices have remained empty ever since.
Like many companies, Privateer adapted to a remote working model during COVID. We embraced our ability to operate over a long distance with staff and full-time contractors now in four states, three countries, and two continents.
Over the past year, we have been transitioning our production to additive manufacturing. We have all but stopped production in metal and hand-poured resin as more of our products are produced using 3D printing technology. The large spaces housing our spin casters, vacuum chambers, and vast mold archives are getting dusty. We have too much space that is not being used.
Without the need for expansive offices and with a 3D printing facility that requires a much smaller footprint than our traditional production facility, we have determined that it’s time to relocate. And while moving is right up at the top of the list of things we never want to do again, our pain is your gain—because we have a warehouse full of Legacy inventory that we are not planning to move or store at our new location.
