Woodinville, WA – Privateer Press is about to launch the latest Kickstarter for its rapidly growing 5e-compatible roleplaying game, Iron Kingdoms: Requiem, this time featuring the terrifying lands of Cryx and the Scharde Islands in Nightmare Empire. The comprehensive setting book is supplemented with an extensive and detailed guide to specific characters, monsters, and locations in the evil empire plus a collection of four nightmarish adventures. The Kickstarter launches Tuesday, July 5th, and runs until July 21st.
Players both new to the setting and experienced veterans will find much to raise the fear factor in their campaigns as the previously unexplored undead lands of Cryx get a special release. Amongst the over four-hundred pages in three volumes—Nightmare Empire, The Scoundrel’s Guide to the Scharde Islands, and Tales from the Blackwater Cantina—players and game masters will find rules for playing both against and as the undead; new classes like the revenant and the specter; new subclasses, spells, magic items, and races to expand player options; two dozen new monsters like the evil insects to lich overseers; extensive rules for pirates, warships, and all manner of seafaring exploits; and prepared adventures for players of all levels.
“We have always wanted to do a thorough exploration of Cryx and the entire Scharde Islands in previous editions of the Iron Kingdoms RPG, and finally in the 5e Requiem setting, we’re making it happen,” said Matthew D. The launch of Nightmare Empire includes stretch goals and special bonuses for individual backers, and the Nightmare Empire Kickstarter also includes pledge rewards for retailers who would like to carry the books in their stores, including an exclusive Dragon Coin, a highlight of the many treasures to be had as this Kickstarter grows.
