Monsterpocalypse Monday: Gallamaxus Slept Here and Other Travel Tales to Avoid

By

on

Never mind that we don’t even know IF Gallamaxus sleeps, but we do know the terrifying Necroscourge monster never took a nap in the town of Shelbyville, Tennessee. Something from outer space crashed into its Calsonic Arena and stayed the night—it’s just not clear what it was!

The so-called Belcher on the Beach (Santa Monica, CA) is, in fact, the remains of a humpback whale that was mysteriously encased in steel and ceramic. (Note the Santa Monica Travel & Tourism website no longer lists Belcher on the Beach as a local attraction.)

A slowly rebuilding Chicago rightly boasts numerous historical sites from the initial invasion that launched the Monsterpocalypse. But we have to take the wind out of the Windy City’s sails when we dispute the accuracy of the enormous hole near the so-called corncob towers by the Dearborn Street Bridge as being “Ground Zero.” The plaque is there calling out the comet shard, but rumors are all that support the story of invaders from space starting here. (Try the Robert J. Quinn Fire Academy, DeKoven and Jefferson, for the site of the O’Leary house and barn instead!)

The “Toriton Sandoitchi” at Sushi Shari (Tokyo) is just a crab sandwich, folks. No Tritons were harmed in the making of that lunch special.
