Pinsider: Pairing Pins

Years ago, when I was doing freelance creative work, Mike Ryan approached me about writing an article for No Quarter magazine. He knew I was a fan of the game, and he offered me a chance to write up a character for the Iron Kingdoms RPG. As we were working on this article, and being the annoying fan-boy that I am, I was trying to figure out what these mysterious strangers at PPHQ were working on. So, I eventually asked him, “Mike, what are you most excited about?” That’s when he looked me dead in the eye and said one word: “Pins.”

Now, I’m not gonna lie. When Mike told me that there were going to be making WARMACHINE and HORDES pins, I immediately thought he meant those old, cheap round buttons with a safety-pin glued onto the back. Thankfully, I was dead wrong. A couple of days later, I met him at the office, and he handed me one. It was a pin for my favorite warjack—the Juggernaut. The pin was about the size of the model, extremely detailed, and one of the coolest things I’d ever seen. I’ve since started collecting pins, all thanks to that one Juggernaut.

Right now, we’re having a massive “Stay In and Paint” sale, where almost everything in the store is 25% off. And we’re about to sweeten the pot a little bit. We’ve put together a couple of super cool deals for you: when you purchase one of these cool models at 25% off, we’ll through in a pin totally free!

I’ve gone through and found some of our niftiest pins and paired them with corresponding models, so take a gander below and pick out a few (or all of them) you like!

Monsterpocalypse Protectors Starter and Chibi Defender X Pin

Monsterpocalypse is, without a doubt, the best Kaiju-themed game ever created. Seriously. If you haven’t picked it up yet, do it. The monster featured in the Protectors starter set is none other than G.U.A.R.D.’s big blue bad-ass, Defender X. While you’re stomping some Planet Eaters to death, remind them who’s boss with a cute, chibi version of the very robot you’re using to squash their dreams of consuming our planet.

Monsterpocalypse Destroyers Starter and Chibi Gorghadra Pin

Of course, we’re not going to be offering just the puny humans a cool deal, are we? The monster included in the Destroyers’ starter set is none other than everyone’s favorite Planet Eater: Gorghadra. With a purposeful grimace and a terrible sound, remind your opponents who you’re repping while pulling the spitting high-tension wires down with a chibi Gorghadra pin. His pin may make him look cute and cuddly, but it’s just a trick to get close enough to eat you.

Asphyxious the Sanctified and Asphyxious’ Logo Pin:

Each one of Asphyxious’ models is cooler than the next. Now, we get ol’ Gaspy in a Convergence-supplied clockwork vessel, so he can continue on for untold centuries. With new, ’jack-focused abilities, and access to Cryx, Mercenary, and Convergence warjacks, he’s more powerful then ever! Since you’re already devoted to the (formerly) Iron Lich, why not wear his logo? The pin shows Asphyxious’ trusty spear, Soul Splitter, with his skull and glowing green runes.

Helga on Wheels and Minions Logo Pin

Do you want the fastest model in Riot Quest? What about a warlock on one mean machine? Well, with Helga on Wheels, you’re getting both at the same time! Playable as a scout in Riot Quest and a warlock in WARMACHINE and HORDES, you’re not only getting a hog on a hog when you purchase her, but you’re getting a pin of the Minions Faction logo, too!

Gorman the Mad and the Five Fingers Dicers:
The apocalypse hasn’t been too kind to Gorman, in a far-too-relatable fashion: he’s overworked and quite clearly out of his mind. With his (what Dev has told me I can’t call a) “goo-gun,” alchemical grenades, and PPE, he’s ready to take on anything the post-apocalyptic Iron Kingdoms has to offer. Back before the infernal invasion, Gorman hailed from everyone’s favorite bad part of town Five Fingers, so with a Five Fingers Dicers pin (the official Grind team of Five Fingers!), you can help Gorman remember the good ol’ days when he’d just murder people for money instead of survival…

Supreme Guardian and Sacral Stone Pin

Do you know what’s better than an Ancient Guardian? A giant Ancient Guardian! The Supreme Guardian is part of PP’s never-ending quest to create larger and larger Immortals (until we finally figure a way to get players standing on the tabletop as models themselves). Of course, an exalted needs a Sacral Stone to exist, so when you purchase a Supreme Guardian, you get the Sacral Stone pin!

Tormentor and Infernal Logo Pin

The Tormentor has quickly Smashed and Grabbed its way into our hearts as one of our favorite Infernal Horrors. With great melee capability, it’s no wonder it’s in almost every Infernals list. Now, when you order a Tormentor, you’ll be able to let your opponent know, without a doubt, that you’re the number-one Infernal in town by sporting a pin with their logo on your human-skin blazer.

Cygnar Battlegroup and Cygnar Faction Logo Pin

Lightning doesn’t strike twice…unless that is your fielding a Cygnar army, in which case it’ll strike a bit more than twice. Battlegroups are a great way to get into the game or to give a new Faction a shot; with beginner-friendly (and still really good) warcasters and warjacks, you’re just a few units and solos away from an army. Plus, you can show your friends that you’re down with the Golden Swan when you pick up a pin that advocates your first step into Cygnar!

Cryx Battlegroup and Cryx Faction Logo Pin

Do you like zombies? What about pirates? What about undead dragon-gods that command a whole country of zombies, pirates, necrotechs and other unmentionably evil creations? Well, then it might be time to consider starting up a Cryx army. And what better way to do that than with a battlegroup! When you get this starter as part of the sale, you also now get a Cryx Faction logo pin to show your undying loyalty to Toruk!

Skorne Battlegroup and Skorne Faction Logo Pin

If you want to start a new Faction, but you’re tired of all those stompy robots, Skorne might be the choice for you! This battlegroup, with its Titan and Cyclops, give you a great taste of that Paingiver* lifestyle—and with this special deal, you’ll also get the Skorne Faction logo pin, letting everyone know that you mean business when it comes to the subjugation of humanity, trollkin, and elves!

*mortitheurgy abilities not included
