I love Man-O-Wars.
I love them with a steamy, boiled-alive passion. From their little tiny helmeted heads to their steel-covered thunder-thighs—literally every part of a Man-O-War is my favorite part. Man-O-War models are what got me into the game, and I will be playing with those not-so-little guys for the rest of my life.
With that being said…
After ten years of nothing but Man-O-Wars, Greylords, and all-things-Khadoran, it’s time for me to try something new. Is this because of my recent crushing defeats in the office campaign? No! Why would you even suggest that? It’s because I want to try something different! Jeez!
After wracking my brain for much longer than I care to admit, I still have no idea what Faction to play. But then something else popped into my mind: you fine folks! How about we build an army together?
Over the coming months, I’ll be posting a series of polls on Facebook. First, we’ll decide what Faction I should play. Then we’ll get into the real nitty-gritty and start working on lists! Think of it like a community-wide slow-grow league. We’ll start off with a 25-point list and slowly build up to the full 75-point tournament-sized list!
Every week, I will be out somewhere in the wild (well, the wilds of western Washington) with my list, playing games against you. So, if you see a giant beardo-weirdo in tye-dye at your FLGS, challenge that guy to a game of WARMACHINE. Worst-case scenario: it’s not me, and you’ve just confused a tall person. Better-case scenario: it’s me, and we play a friendly game!
Finally, as we get set for Lock & Load, I will wander the Iron Arena with a complete list that you, the community, helped me make. Will you be able to beat me? Probably—I’m not the best player in the world, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is fun, community, and sharing the joy of watching little figures kill each other.
