Dire Troll Brawler

Trollblood Northkin Heavy Warbeast

Drawn from the belligerent northern strain of dire trolls and driven by a desire to crush and devour anything that does not flee before them, dire troll brawlers are warbeasts with few equals. These beasts are inured to the harsh northern climate and well suited to the demands of Northkin warfare. Armed by kriels of the Scarsfell and Rimeshaws, they go to battle wielding oversized flails made from stout iron chain and scavenged scrap metal. Brawlers eagerly hurl themselves at any opponent, swinging these chains in sweeping, crushing arcs and bellowing primitive war cries.

The Northkin only recently learned how to condition dire trolls as warbeasts. Since ancient days, northern dire trolls were considered solitary dangers to be avoided and good reasons to circumvent the mountain passes they inhabited. But the realities of war in the north affect every northern kriel, and even these unruly beasts must be put to work in aid of the Northkin.

Adapting methods pioneered by Hoarluk Doomshaper, northern warlocks entice dire trolls with large vats of freshly brewed beer and smoked meat, then prove their courage to the beasts by standing unflinching before their hostile displays. Following this introduction, warlocks can bond with these fearsome creatures and condition them to fight for the kriels.

The northern strain of dire troll is less intelligent and even more temperamental than its southern counterparts. What these trolls lack in intelligence, however, they more than compensate for with raw delight in brutal combat. Moreover, lasting bonds can form between northern dire trolls and those who provide them with regular supplies of meat, drink, and opportunities for bloodshed.
