Well over a year ago, I had been speaking with Ed Bourelle about possible convention models when he brought up an idea for a lady Brute Thrall with giant steamfists. We laughed at the mental image and moved along… or at least, I moved along. We always have numerous projects competing for our time and attention, and so thoughts of Ed’s monstrous lady thrall became a distant memory.
Jump ahead a few months, and I came upon our concept artist Nick Kay working on none other than a Femme Fatale Brute Thrall variant with giant steamfists! I was impressed by the art, and I had sculpted a few of our previous convention models that went over well with the community.
I packed up a small box of bribes for Ron Kruzie and asked about working on the Femme Fatale Brute Thrall convention exclusive. I had not sculpted very many Cryx models previously and thought it would be beneficial to learn more… or perhaps I just wanted to sculpt it because it looked awesome.
Ron conceded to my humble request, and the Femme Fatale Brute Thrall was born!

I knew it would be important to capture the feel of the artwork: simple, elegant, and dangerous. I set to work on sculpting a female Brute Thrall variant that would interest convention attendees regardless of whether they were Cryx players. The entire concept is intended to be just a bit over-the-top, with exaggerated steamfist, hips shifted to show attitude, and even a bit of a military propaganda feel to her with that fist curled up.

The sculpting process was nice and smooth, and I’m very pleased with how she turned out. Over the top! The final product will be available June 5–7 at Lock & Load GameFest and in the online store, and I’m looking forward to seeing many Femme Fatale Brute Thralls crushing their enemies at Lock & Load and beyond!
