Hi, everybody! I’m Dianne—you may remember me from my Insider “Holiday Bundle Painting Challenge 2013,” in which I demonstrated an easy method for painting Gatormen. Today, I’d like to talk about what I do here at Privateer Press and tell you about the great group of people I have the pleasure of working with: The Privateer Press Gang.
I am the Quartermaster’s Assistant, which means I work with Organized Play & Volunteer Coordinator Will Hungerford in running and maintaining the Press Gang. For those of you who are new to our community, the Press Gang is our elite group of volunteers who promote and run events for stores and clubs to help grow the gaming community. We have a motivated group of volunteers worldwide, which is getting bigger every day.

I maintain the back end of all Press Gang-related activities in the Americas, Canada, Russia, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East . . . basically, everywhere in the world except Europe, where the Press Gangers (or PGs) have their own great team working with them. I organize and deliver the support materials and resources our PGs needs to run successful events, like signed posters, books, and a host of other fancy Privateer swag you’re sure to see around. I also track and review Press Gang applications for potential PGs in our jurisdiction before sending them off to Will Hungerford for final review and approval. Hungerford and I, along with our European Union partners, maintain the master log of all events reported by Press Gang members. All of them. This is so we can ensure our various communities are getting the support they need from us.
Here at Privateer, we are very big on supporting brick-and-mortar stores. These stores and their accompanying game clubs are critical to fostering a community. Having worked at game stores in the past, I know how difficult it can be to run a store while also managing events. This is where the Press Gang comes in. We work closely with stores to find out what help they need. Sometimes, it’s just a few window clings and some posters; other times they need someone to run weekly demos and Steamrollers. Whatever the case, thanks to our group of volunteers, we are able to send these stores and clubs the help they need.
I’ve been working with the Press Gang for two years now, and it’s been very rewarding to watch its ranks grow. Our PGs have helped strengthen the Privateer Press name in communities all around the world, and I’m very excited to see what next year will bring.
