As many of you know, 2013 marked the ten-year anniversary of WARMACHINE. What you might not have known, however, is that 2013 was also the ten-year anniversary of the Press Gang.
For an entire decade the best volunteer force in the world has been out there giving game demos, running tournaments, hosting leagues, and being awesome people in general. In fact, we have some Press Gangers in our ranks today who have been with us from the very beginning. We cannot even begin to properly express our gratitude to all of our Press Gangers, both new and old, for all the hard work they’ve done over the years…but that didn’t stop us from trying.
To celebrate this anniversary we wanted to offer the Press Gang something special—something unique that only we could offer. We decided to create a Press Gang-exclusive model for WARMACHINE.
As we discussed our various ideas, a set of criteria began to take shape:
- The model must be tournament legal.
- Because the sculpt would be tournament legal, it could not be a completely new model; a resculpt would be more appropriate. While we wanted to thank the Press Gang, we also wanted to make sure that every player has access to the same characters.
- We wanted the character to be iconic to WARMACHINE to tie into the game’s anniversary.
- The model must be a new resculpt that has never been done before.
- The model should be usable by the majority of WARMACHINE factions to allow most of our Press Gangers to play with it. A Mercenary would be best.
- The model must be pirate themed, but not necessarily a Mercenary Privateer model like Captain Phinneus Shae or the Sea Dog Crew.
Finally, the answer came to us: a Gorman di Wulfe resculpt! As we speak, Press Gangers around the world are receiving their limited edition Gorman di “Sea” Wulfe models. Check it out!

Next time you see a Press Ganger, make sure to give him or her a firm handshake and a heartfelt “Thank you!” Their dedication and hard work over the last decade has helped us get where we are today.
Cheers, Gang. You’ve earned it.
