I was the lucky soul charged with updating the maps for the Iron Kingdoms Full Metal Fantasy Game: Kings, Nations, and Gods. For these new maps, we wanted to go for a hand-drawn aspect to fit the nature of the Iron Kingdoms RPG.

The maps were tricky to do, not just because they’re loaded with hand-drawn details but also because all those details had to be spot on. There was a lot of proofing and editing of every last detail, culling forests and expanding mountain ranges. There wasn’t a country border or city location on the entire map that wasn’t reviewed, edited, and fine-tuned.

The maps also had to be flexible. Not every nation agrees on who owns what, so everything had to be organized in such a way as to show things from Khador’s perspective in one instance and Cygnar’s in another.

While all the crazy details are awesome on the maps, I thought it’d be cool to give everyone a different look at the Iron Kingdoms from a geological perspective: here’s a look at western Immoren without the city labels and nation borders.

There are many more great maps in Kings, Nations, and Gods, and we’ve recently enhanced the resolution on the maps for the digital version of the book in the Privateer Press Digital app, so be sure to check it out!
