Last Wednesday the long-awaited digital reader from Privateer Press for Android and Apple handheld and tablet devices, PPDigital, went live on the Apple and Google Play stores. For those of you who haven’t checked it out yet, PPDigital is the one-stop shop for all Privateer Press digital content. Never again will you have to weigh down your army bag with multiple rulebooks or spend precious gaming minutes flipping pages looking for the specific rule you need to reference.

In today’s Insider I want to show you some of the exciting features PPDigital brings to the table.

The first thing you’ll notice upon opening the app is tons of Privateer Press publications, all ready and waiting for you in digital form. While the app is chock full of WARMACHINE, HORDES, Iron Kingdoms, and No Quarter content, one possibly overlooked section is definitely worth checking out: The Documents section contains free downloads of our board and card games rulebooks, allowing you to always have them on hand during play. Better still, you can use PPDigital’s powerful search capabilities to find exactly what you need during play. In the coming weeks, we will also be loading this section with the Steamroller 2013 rules, the High Command Kingmaker rules, and free compilations of player-favorite Iron Kingdoms Full Metal Fridays and compilations of WARMACHINE and HORDES league fiction from the past three years.

And when you’re ready to sit down and read through one of the many digital publications on PPDigital, you’ll find a whole bunch of cool tools designed to make browsing and searching quick and easy. Tapping on the screen activates and deactivates the tools menu. Click on the magnifying glass icon to perform a targeted search for a word or phrase and see a list of every instance within the book. Click on the open book icon to jump immediately to any of the major sections of the book. Or click the icon that looks like four individual panels to bring up a gallery page view where you can either quickly browse the entire book or just your bookmarked pages.

We worked very hard to make sure PPDigital allows you access to your purchased content on any device you own. As such, PPDigital lets you create a separate account from your Google Play or Apple accounts that gives you access to your purchases from your own cloud on any of your devices. This system also allows you to manage storage on your devices by being able to freely delete content from the device that you can simply download again at any time.

And that’s where my favorite thing about PPDigital comes into play. Thanks to the benefits of purely digital content, whenever errata is issued for any of our books we can easily update all affected books to reflect these changes so that you can simply delete the out-of-date book from your device and download the corrected up-to-date version! Never again will you need to reference a separate errata document during play. When you use PPDigital you will always have the most current and accurate rules available right at your fingertips.
