Yesterday’s Video Insider pulled back the curtain on something I’ve been eagerly anticipating for almost a year now: the limited-edition WARMACHINE 10-Year Anniversary Collector’s Set, with the iconic warcaster Kommander Zoktavir, the Butcher Unleashed.
Kommander Zoktavir, the Butcher of Khardov was the first model I ever painted for my Khador army back in 2005. You can see it below in all its red glory.

So, how awesome is The Butcher Unleashed? This new sculpt by Brian Dugas is absolutely incredible—and just to prove it, check out this latest addition to my Khador army.

But this is the shot that really drives home the 10-year anniversary of WARMACHINE for me, and hopefully it will for all of you as well.

While this incredible set is the result of the combined efforts of a lot of us here at Privateer Press, the final product represents a particular labor of love for me. It is truly exhilarating to see this piece of WARMACHINE history realized and soon to become part of WARMACHINE players’ collections everywhere.
We knew from the start that everything about this set needed to big—this is the celebration of ten years of WARMACHINE!
Next, we had meetings…and then more meetings. The easiest decision was for the set to feature the Butcher; he was the very first WARMACHINE model released, after all. But the idea to create a new epic version of him only came later. Once we looked at everything together, we realized the timing was perfect for this, both in the narrative and in the real world.
We had the core and the icon of ten years of unstoppable momentum, so the rest slowly fell into place. Challenge coins have been a huge part of WARMACHINE since the start of organized play, and we knew we wanted to harken back to that tradition in a big way—hence, we have the limited-edition 10-Year Anniversary Challenge Coin. Larger than its Steamroller cousins, this thing is loaded with detail, and each has its own unique number out of the 1,000-unit limited run.
Knowing the set would spend just as much time being proudly displayed on a shelf as played on the tabletop, we hit upon the idea of creating a stunning scenic base to tie the miniatures and coin together. The Khadoran bunker diorama not only functions on the tabletop as a great terrain piece, it turns The Butcher Unleashed and the 10-Year Anniversary Challenge Coin into a display piece any miniature enthusiast can be proud of.
It was a true joy to watch the reimagining of the original WARMACHINE: Prime cover by artist Andrea Uderzo come together. Andrea’s piece perfectly captures the original essence of Matt Wilson’s work (still perhaps my all-time favorite WARMACHINE artwork) while updating it to reflect a whole new decade.
Finally, we wrapped it all up in a stunning collector’s box with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the man himself, Privateer Press CCO and WARMACHINE creator Matt Wilson.
The WARMACHINE 10-Year Anniversary Collector’s Set will be available from the Privateer Press Gen Con booth #609 or from the Privateer Press online store starting August 15.
Don’t miss your chance to own a unique piece of WARMACHINE history and ring in the next ten unstoppable years—with an axe to the face!
