LEVEL 7 [ESCAPE]: Lockdown releases today! Here’s a look at some of the new things coming in the expansion for LEVEL 7 [ESCAPE].
Like I said in my last Insider, there are new cards for all the decks. Here are some of the cards from the other decks I didn’t show last time.

These are two of the six new kinds of item cards you’ll have a chance to find. Both offer new ways to manage your fear without using adrenaline cards.

There are six new skill cards in LEVEL 7 [ESCAPE]: Lockdown. Just like in the base game, some of them adjust stats and others grant abilities.
This is also a preview of sorts for LEVEL 7 [OMEGA PROTOCOL] since the development of both products overlapped in time and concept.
The story we tell in Lockdown takes place between the last scenario in [ESCAPE], and the first mission of [OMEGA PROTOCOL]. During this time Dr. Cronos is preparing for the response he knows is coming from the U.S. government. Since part of this preparation is to deploy forces with weapons, the new enemies in LEVEL 7: [ESCAPE] are carrying guns.
Back in August, Matt Wilson tweeted an image of the scale of some of the aliens we were concepting for the upcoming LEVEL 7 games. The warrior clones and the blaster hybrids appear in both games. The cover for Lockdown features the warrior clones because they’re in every scenario in the new game to add a new level of danger. There are also rules for including warrior clones in the eight previous scenarios.

The blaster hybrids act as the heavy weapons for the aliens. Representing how they work in two different game systems was an interesting challenge. Their weapons are powerful rail guns augmented by their psychic abilities. They build up power over time and use it to unleash devastating attacks. In LEVEL 7 [ESCAPE] this means they have relatively weak attacks at first, but the longer they are in play the stronger they get. Their power is also expended when they fire, so getting one to shoot at something will weaken it for a while.

The last thing I want to mention are the new scenarios. There are five, and each offers a new twist on the standard game. Since you’ll be going back into the facility looking for an different exit, you’ll see some of Subterra Bravo’s landmarks from a different perspective. The other thing that will make these scenarios significantly different is also part of that story continuation. Since the base game ends with Dr. Cronos personally chasing survivors, he’ll be chasing you the entire time in LEVEL 7 [ESCAPE]: Lockdown. I’d wish you good luck, but I don’t think it would help.
