Hello there. My name is Matt Goetz, and I’m the new RPG Producer here at Privateer Press.

Since I started working at Privateer, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some very fun projects for the Iron Kingdoms Full Metal Fantasy Roleplaying Game—everything from updating classic material to generating new concepts for the game. The Iron Kingdoms offers a unique setting to work with, and I’ve always appreciated the well-thought-out history and technology of western Immoren.

Lately, I have been working on content for an exciting new web feature called Full Metal Fridays. These are weekly web releases starting in March that provide new player or Game Master content like careers, equipment, and scenario rules. Each installment in this series will revolve around a monthly theme, with each theme focusing on an iconic aspect of the Iron Kingdoms. The month culminates in an encounter related to the theme, which provides material for a single session, but can also be the starting point for a whole adventure.

My favorite aspect of working on this project has been creating mechanics that support a story. I like thinking about the kinds of challenges and consequences presented by, for example, fighting on the deck of a ship at the height of a tropical storm or conducting a massive firefight in a room full of dangerous chemicals. I’m happiest when the rules we write cause those big, cinematic moments that make a game session memorable.

It’s definitely been exciting putting the first installment together. The first Full Metal Friday will be right here in Privateer Insider on March 1st. I don’t want to spoil anything, but you’ll want to check this stuff out. I hope all of you enjoy using this material as much as I did creating it.
