Organized play in 2013 is going to rock your socks off!
I know that’s a bold statement, but with all the awesome new stuff coming up, it’s a statement I feel confident making.
For our casual tier of play, we’ve got some really great opportunities on the way. You can expect to see an update to Journeyman this year that will include new battlegroup box set equivalents for nearly every faction. Book-release and single-day casual events are also going to be available throughout the year, including a special 10-year anniversary event later in 2013. Then there’s Machinations…
What’s Machinations you ask? That’s the question everyone will be asking. Machinations is this year’s organized play league, which is divided into four, four-week seasons. Someone, or something, is threatening western Immoren and it’s up to you to discover what that is. This league will have many features you’d expect, such as custom scenarios, models, and rules, but there’s so much more. One of the coolest features of Machinations is the online vault.
Players aren’t just fighting to become league champions in their local stores, they’re also working towards a global effort to unlock the mysteries of Machinations. Each season, there will be an online vault that contains secrets I guarantee you’re going to want to see.
As global results from the league pour into Privateer HQ, the vault doors will begin to open, revealing what lurks beyond. It isn’t just wins and losses from games that open the vault but special achievements players will all work toward for their stores.
The first season, Machinations: Umbra, begins at the end of February. In the first part of the month, the rules will be available online and retailers may begin purchasing prize kits. Speaking of prize kits, in addition to the league medallion awarded to the champion, everyone who participates can receive a unique patch for their army bags or jackets. What makes the patches unique? Collect them all and you’ll find that all four connect in any way you see fit to arrange them.
For those interested in our competitive tier of play, we’ll be releasing the official rules for Steamroller 2013, Hardcore 2013, and Masters 2013 very soon. These three separate documents contain everything you need to know to organize or participate in any of our popular competitive formats. After extensive testing, these formats are better than ever, and each offers a unique play experience.
Of course, this isn’t all. We’ve got a lot more to announce regarding organized play very soon. Keep your eye on the Privateer Press website for more information!
