I was very excited when I found out that I was going to get to re-sculpt the Centurion for the plastic kit.

Matt Wilson’s original artwork for the Centurion is really awesome and as I progressed through the sculpting process I knew that I really wanted to do a custom mod of the Centurion to match the original artwork as closely as I could. Here it is:

For the base I used Dire Troll Mauler Extreme base with the Captain Jeremiah Kraye base stacked on top of it. I had to clip a little bit of the socket off of the right upper arm to get the spear to sit correctly and I had to cut and reposition the right foot, aside from that I just had to pin the various parts on and fill any gaps with putty.

Once the posing and putty work was done I drilled into the center of each stack and ran a length of pinning wire out to build a frame for the smoke effect. With the frame in place I applied rigid expanding to it in stages working from the stacks out to the end of the frame work.

Altogether it was a fun a relatively easy mod and I’m quite happy with the results.
